About the Lab
Our Team’s research investigates the neural correlates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related mental health conditions, with the goal of advancing innovative, evidence-based treatments.
The lab also examines the neural mechanisms of minority stress through an intersectional lens, addressing how systemic inequities shape brain processes and mental health outcomes.
Using advanced neuroimaging techniques, the Nicholson Neurolab seeks to deepen understanding of the neurobiological factors underlying mental health disorders—particularly those that disproportionately affect marginalized communities—and translate these insights into more effective and accessible interventions.
