Dr. Magdalena Siegel

Magdalena Siegel is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Vienna. Her research explores how stigma and minority stress extend beyond individuals to broader relational systems, including intimate relationships and families. In this vein, she is currently co-leading Austria’s first prospective study with LGBTQ+ parents in Austria. She is also deeply interested in identifying both structural and individual determinants of LGBTQ+ health more broadly. Methodologically, Magdalena employs a diverse range of approaches, including advanced quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods designs on the primary and research synthesis level, including machine learning-based techniques and multiverse-based analyses. She has a strong background in research synthesis (including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses and meta-meta-analyses) and metascience („research about research“). Through her work, she aims to advance a more comprehensive understanding of the structural and psychological factors shaping health and well-being in marginalized communities and the research done within those communities.
